Oregon Day of Cyber Celebration Slated for November 20

Please join us for "Oregon Day of Cyber," taking place on Monday, 11/20. Oregon Governor Kate Brown will kick off the event to launch cyber awareness initiatives, resources, and to unveil the new state-wide cybersecurity website. In attendance will be technology companies (including Redhawk Network Security), government, education, small businesses, law enforcement, students--all representing our state with different perspectives, but unified with a common goal: to protect the digital lives and data of all Oregonians.

 The Oregon Day of Cyber is Monday, November 20, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Oregon Tech Portland-Metro, 27500 SW Parkway Ave, Wilsonville, OR 97070.

 Onsite will be:

-Technology Association of Oregon President & CEO Skip Newberry
-The Oregon Cybersecurity Advisory Council, state and local officials, university professors and students, local technology companies and  business professionals

 The event will also feature a panel discussion with top cybersecurity experts, a job fair for individuals seeking careers in cybersecurity, and a vendor fair of technology and security companies focused on cybersecurity. Governor Kate Brown to kick off Oregon Day of Cyber event at Oregon Tech in Wilsonville

PORTLAND, Ore., November 8, 2017 — Oregon Governor Kate Brown will proclaim November 20th as the “Oregon Day of Cyber” and officially launch the Cyber Oregon Cybersecurity Awareness Initiative at an event scheduled to take place on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Oregon Tech Portland-Metro campus in Wilsonville. The governor, who will be introduced by Oregon Tech’s President Dr. Nagi Naganathan, is scheduled to speak from 10:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All members of the media are invited to attend.

Other notable activities at the event will include a keynote presentation by Skip Newberry, president and CEO of the Technology Association of Oregon and executive sponsor of Cyber Oregon along with Oregon State Chief Information Officer Alex Petit, PhD. Mr. Newberry will host a panel discussion with top cybersecurity experts and unveil the new cybersecurity website resource for all Oregonians. In addition, the event will include a job fair for individuals seeking careers in cybersecurity and a vendor fair of technology companies focused on cybersecurity. Attendees will include state and local government representatives, students, technology companies and small businesses.

The Oregon Cybersecurity Advisory Council was established pursuant to Senate Bill 90, signed by Governor Kate Brown on September 19, 2017, to develop a shared vision for the establishment of a cross-sector Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, in collaboration with Oregon’s cyber-related industries, private sector security practitioners, educational institutions, law enforcement and local governments.
